THE GROUP ABROAD
SUSTAINED MOMENTUM IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE
The investments made by the COSUMAR Group in all links of the production chain have enabled it to benefit from surplus production capacity since 2013, far exceeding the needs of the national market.
The Group has launched an export business under the temporary admission regime, outside the compensation system. COSUMAR’s exports to 80 countries reached nearly 587 000 tons of sugar, compared with just 195,000 tons in 2015.
GREAT POTENTIAL FOR EXPORT TO THE WORLD
After a number of successful export operations in Africa, the COSUMAR Group has confirmed its ambition to strengthen its commercial presence in West Africa, and has launched a white sugar packaging and marketing operation in Guinea Conakry.
The Group has acquired a 55% stake in COMAGUIS (Compagnie Maroco-Guinéenne de Sucre – Morocco-Guinean Sugar Company), the remaining 45% being held by the Guinean company SOGECILE. COMAGUIS has a production unit located 1km from the port of Conakry, with a capacity of 50,000 tons.
A PARTNERSHIP WITH GUINEAN COMPANY SOGECILE
The COMAGUIS product range brings a diversified and competitive offer of packaged sugar to consumers in Guinea and neighboring countries. COMAGUIS offers superior quality sugar and modern packaging adapted to local needs. The range comprises granulated sugar and molded lump sugar packaged in a variety of formats.
This investment confirms the COSUMAR Group’s strategic vision for the development and promotion of export activity, which will enable the Group to become a competitive regional agro-industrial player.
In addition, the COSUMAR Group continues to explore other opportunities for diversification in Morocco and internationalization in the sugar sector.
